The Johns Hopkins Institute for Policy Studies strengthens public policy through rigorous analysis of pressing social issues such as poverty and social welfare, children and families, housing and neighborhoods, and the workforce.
To accomplish these goals, IPS is engaged in an active program of policy research, dissemination, implementation and technical assistance, and graduate education. Community outreach in the form of seminars, internships, and volunteer service also plays an important role at IPS. This gives a practical grounding to IPS research while offering a valuable resource to the community.
Institute work reflects the beliefs that better information can lead to improved policy action, and that both public and private institutions have critical roles to play in the solution of public problems.
