ADMISSIONS

We are looking for a diverse group of individuals that include college graduates, mid-career professionals, returning Peace Corps volunteers and practitioners. Our experience indicates that, in many cases, those who have started a career path utilize the MPP program most effectively. We encourage international students, people of color and women to apply to our program.

  • Age: 24 (median), 19-36 (range) 
  • Average GPA: 3.6-3.8
  • Average GRE scores:
    • Verbal: 600-650
    • Quant: 685-750
    • Analy – 4.85
  • Females = 68% Males = 32%
  • US Students: 82% (MD = 27%; CA = 14%)
    • U.S. by Region: 49% Northeast, 17% Southeast, 11% Midwest, 2% Southwest, and 20% West
  • International Students: 18% (including: China, India, Pakistan, Argentina, Russia, and Canada)
  • 4 Returned Peace Corps Volunteers
  • Undergraduate degrees from institutions such as: University of Virginia, Swarthmore, Northwestern, Yale, Wesleyan, McGill, UNC-Chapel Hill, UC-Berkeley, Johns Hopkins, Vassar, Nanjiing University, Bowdoin and Towson University
  • 1 BA/MA Student

We consider the applicants undergraduate academic performance, courses taken, GRE and/or TOEFL scores, relevant work and community experience, career goals, the personal statement and letters of recommendation.

While interviews are not a requirement of the admissions process, we recommend that applicants visit Hopkins and meet the Public Policy faculty, staff and students.
