8:30 Introduction to governance and fiscal systems in Denmark and Sweden’s cities
10.00 am Arrival - Malmö
* Viewing examples of regional growth in the Malmö area: BO1, Turning Torso, Jäckreborg
1.00 pm Arrival - Copenhagen
* Viewing examples of a semi large nonprofit housing estate and a private rental housing estate
* Viewing examples of regional growth in the Copenhagen downtown area by boat trip in the harbor
6.00 pm Close – Evening at your own

9.00 am Presentation of today’s programme
* Understanding the Swedish and Danish welfare systems and the housing systems in particular
* The welfare systems under pressure: Presentation of the welfare problems of today and tomorrow with focus on the housing system, segregation, polarization and inequality.
* Response and discussion by fellows
* Regional growth in the Øresund area: What has the bridge, economic structures etc. entailed according to housing system and in particular to housing affordability
* Response and discussion by fellows including fellows’ experience from own regions

TUESDAY 10, June. 2008 Field trip by train to Malmö
Location Malmö City Planning Office and Rosengården
9.00 am Departure by train to Malmö.
* By bicycle (taxi optional) to visiting one of Malmö’s largest non-profit housing estates: Rosengården
* Explore the comprehensive efforts to improve the economic situation for low income families
